Character Profile of Homer Simpson

Homer J. Simpson is the patriarch of the Simpsons clan. He is married to Marge (nee Bouvier) and has three children: Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Homer works at Springfield's Nuclear Power Plant as a Safety Inspector for Sector 7G. At work, he spends most of his time sleeping or hanging around the vending machines.

When he's not at work, Homer loves visiting the local watering hole, Moe's Tavern, where he guzzles Duff Beer with his pal, Barney Gumble. Other interests include lounging on the sofa, bowling, watching television and eating.

Yet despite his love for lounging around, Homer enjoys spending quality time with Marge and the kids. Homer has taken his family to such exciting places as New York City, Australia, Tokyo, Africa, Capitol City, Little Pwagmattasquarmsettport, Itchy and Scratchy Land and more. Homer always tries to be there when his family needs him; Whether it's listening to Lisa play her saxophone, watching Krusty the Klown with Bart, playing with Maggie or taking Marge out for a special dinner. He has even given his father, Abe Simpson, a kidney (despite backing out of the operation twice of course!)

Homer has accomplished some pretty impressive feats over the years. Some of these have included travelling into space with NASA, becoming a mascot for the Springfield Isotopes, owning his own snowplowing business "Mr. Plow", becoming the "Beer Baron" by starting a brewery in his basement to counteract prohibition, and he's even been a sideshow as a cannonball target in Hullabalooza.

Other highlights for Homer have included being the manager of country singer, Lurleen Lumpkin, being a member of the "B-Sharps" and landing the role of the ill-fated "Poochy" (the 'Rockin Dog') on the Itchy and Scratchy Show.

What's Homer Been Up to Lately?

The past few years have been exciting for Homer - to say the least! He created "Tomacco" - a hybrid crop of tomatoes and tobacco. Tomacco almost made Homer a millionaire had it not been for his greediness! Homer also started his own biker gang called "Hell's Satans", he became mayor of New Springfield, designed a web site which he used to spread rumors about Springfield and he even opened up a daycare.

While Homer may not be the 'perfect' husband and father, he always strives for a happy life with his family and he'll do whatever it takes to acheive it.
